AG Neovo SX-Series Displays Set Out to Sea Aboard the Pleiades BF-155

AG Neovo, the display choice of professionals around the world, is proud to be on the crew of the Pleiades BF-155, the fourth fishing vessel owned and operated by brothers and professional fisherman Garry and Philip Hepburn. Nine SX-17 and two SX-15 displays are installed on the Pleiades, ten in the vessel’s wheelhouse, where they help the skippers keep track of everything from the crew on deck, to schools of fish under the sea, to the storm cloud systems hundreds of kilometres away.

The secret is out. The slim, durable design and powerful, versatile features have made the SX-Series the top display solution for fishing vessels like the Pleiades. AG Neovo has quickly become one of the most asked-for names in marine display electronics.

"The secret is out. The slim, durable design and powerful, versatile features have made the SX-Series the top display solution for fishing vessels like the Pleiades. AG Neovo has quickly become one of the most asked-for names in marine display electronics," said Alistair McCloy, AG Neovo's Sales Director in the UK.

In the harsh cold and wet conditions at sea, the robust build and quality of the SX-Series has proven itself time and time again. A seamless, edge-to-edge layer of NeoV™ Optical Glass and a durable all-metal casing not only protect the screen against impact damage, but also moisture and water ingress. In addition, the slim design allows the SX-Series to be flush-mounted, maximising performance in a minimal amount of space—an especially important benefit in wheelhouse.

McMinn Marine Electronics, who installed the displays and electronics systems, was glad to take advantage of these features. According to co-founder Kevin McMinn, "The Pleiades is one of the few, if not the only vessel in the Scottish fishing fleet to have 10 flat screens in the wheelhouse. Other boats have monitors which are mixed and matched depending on what type of gear is installed. With the Pleiades we wanted a modern look, and to keep all the displays the same. A bit more expensive but definitely worthwhile for the aesthetics of the wheelhouse.... no other display looks as good."

McMinn also praised the selection of video inputs in the SX-Series—including analogue, digital, and BNC Security—which made installation much easier and allowed them to achieve the consistent, modern look.

The Pleiades is the fourth fishing vessel owned and operated by the Hepburns, and the first of a new breed of modern fishing vessels designed to focus on maximising efficiency. The Hepburn brothers are more than happy with the results and have made good use of the new Pleiades, having already brought in several tonne hauls in record time.
